The Science

The Science

What’s actually inside the system.

Seven products, six engineered pH stages, two peptides, a 10-amino-acid complex, a silicon-bonded plant protein, premium cationic conditioning. This is what makes Oli G different at the molecular level — verified ingredient by ingredient from the formulation lab.

The pH Cycle

Open the cuticle. Close the cuticle.

Hair’s cuticle behaves like overlapping scales. Alkaline pH opens it; acidic pH closes it. Oli G engineers a full alkaline-to-acidic cycle across the system so peptides and proteins deposit at the right moment, then get sealed in. Plus AquaLush — the weekly alkaline intensive that floods the open cuticle.

The Products

Seven formulas. One verified system.

Each product’s pH and headline actives are pulled directly from the formulation lab’s MSDS. Nothing here is marketing copy laid over a black box — it’s what’s actually in the bottle.

Pure Detox Clarifying Shampoo

The weekly clarifier
pH 7.0–7.9 · mildly alkaline — lifts the cuticle so the reset can reach buildup other shampoos can’t.
  • Disodium EDTA — the chelating agent that distinguishes a true clarifier from a regular shampoo. Binds mineral deposits from hard water.
  • Sodium Laureth Sulfate + Cocamidopropyl Betaine — primary cleanse buffered by amphoteric co-surfactant.
  • Built for: pre-color, pre-bleach, hard water, post-swim, periodic deep-cleanse reset. Not a daily.

Total Refresh pH Balancing Shampoo

The daily wash
pH 5.0–5.5 · matches hair’s natural pH window — cleanses without disrupting the cuticle.
  • Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate — milder primary surfactant (not SLS / SLES). Color-friendly daily cleanse.
  • Dual plant protein: Hydrolyzed Quinoa (penetrates) + Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Soy Protein (cationic, deposits at damage sites).
  • Marula seed oil + dual conditioning polymers — Polyquaternium-7 + Polyquaternium-10 buffer the cleanse.

Total Refresh pH Balancing Conditioner

The cuticle-closing companion
pH 3.5–4.5 · acidic — actively closes the cuticle the shampoo opened.
  • Behentrimonium Methosulfate — one of the gentlest, most premium cationic conditioners available in professional haircare.
  • Amodimethicone — conditioning silicone with high affinity for damaged hair sites (deposits where needed).
  • Marula seed oil + shea butter on a fatty alcohol slip base. Same dual plant protein as the shampoo — continuity by design.

Atomic Hair Repair Leave-In

The dual peptide treatment
pH 7.0–8.0 · mildly alkaline — deliberate. Opens the cuticle so peptides can deposit where damage lives.
  • SH-Oligopeptide-78 + Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1 — dual peptide system, where most repair masks use one.
  • Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol — silicon-bonded plant protein. Deposits at the cuticle better than free hydrolyzed protein.
  • 10-amino-acid complex + Sodium PCA + Sodium Lactate — comprehensive hydration and resilience layer.

Chemical Addiction Peptide Bonding Spray

The protein shake for hair
pH 3.5–4.6 · acidic — closes the cuticle around the peptides Atomic just deposited.
  • Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1 + same 10-amino-acid complex as Atomic — the second peptide touchpoint, post-styling.
  • Coconut + avocado oil + Vitamin B5 (Panthenol) — botanical conditioning complex for softness and shine.
  • Dimethicone family (Dimethiconol, Dimethicone PEG-8 Meadowfoamate) — lightweight thermal smoothing during heat styling.

Renew Porosity Balancing Oil

The skincare-inspired lipid
The lipid replacement · the layer most repair systems skip entirely.
  • Jojoba oil — the closest plant analog to scalp sebum. Compatible at scalp and length.
  • Vitamin E + Vitamin A — antioxidant and conditioning support borrowed from skincare formulation.
  • Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1 + Aminodimethicone — peptide repair in an oil format. Compatible with color, bleach, gloss formulas.

AquaLush Peptide Fiber Mask

The weekly intensive
pH 7.0–8.0 · mildly alkaline — same window as Atomic. Opens the cuticle for a deep flood of peptides, amino acids, and lipids.
  • Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1 + Hydrolyzed Keratin — peptide deposit plus protein bedding for the open cuticle.
  • 10-amino-acid complex + Silk Amino Acids — expanded amino acid bed (Arginine, Glycine, Alanine, Serine, Valine, Proline, Threonine, Isoleucine, Histidine, Phenylalanine, Aspartic Acid).
  • Avocado oil + Murumuru seed butter + Apigenin + Oleanolic Acid — botanical lipid intensive. Replaces conditioner once a week.

The Comparison

How the system compares to the category.

Category-level positioning. Not a comparison to any one brand by name — a comparison to the defaults the rest of the bond-repair and peptide-haircare category settles for.

Dimension Oli G Typical category default
Peptide system Dual: SH-Oligopeptide-78 + Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1 Single peptide
Protein technology Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol (silicon-bonded) Free hydrolyzed protein

Pro Protocols

Service-paired sequences.

Stylists working in Oli G use the system in specific orders for specific services. Here’s how to sequence it.

Pre-service

Pre-color or pre-bleach prep

The right cleanse before chemical service means cleaner lift, better deposit, and longer-lasting results.

  1. Pure Detox — removes product, mineral, and oil buildup that blocks even lift.
  2. Towel out, no conditioner — the service is the next step.
  3. Post-service: Atomic on damp hair, then Chemical Addiction before any heat.
Post-bleach

Post-bleach recovery

Bleached hair needs peptides starting immediately, not on a delay.

  1. Day-of: Atomic on damp hair before any styling.
  2. First wash after service: Total Refresh Shampoo + Conditioner (sulfate-free, pH-matched).
  3. Daily: Atomic on damp, Renew on ends, Chemical Addiction before heat.
Post-relaxer

Post-relaxer protocol

Relaxed hair needs full system support while the cuticle re-sets over 2–3 weeks.

  1. First wash: Pure Detox + AquaLush as conditioning step.
  2. Daily: Atomic on damp hair, Renew nightly on ends.
  3. Week 3+: standard Total Refresh + Atomic + Renew daily routine.
Post-keratin

Post-keratin care

Keratin-treated hair needs sulfate-free maintenance and no clarifying for the first weeks.

  1. Wait 48–72h post-service before any product.
  2. Daily: Total Refresh Shampoo + Conditioner (sulfate-free, safe).
  3. Skip Pure Detox until week 3+. Use Atomic + Renew for daily repair.
Hard water

Hard water markets

Mineral buildup is one of the most common, underdiagnosed causes of dullness and unresponsive hair.

  1. Weekly: Pure Detox as the wash — Disodium EDTA binds the minerals.
  2. Follow with Total Refresh Conditioner (pH 3.5–4.5) to close the cuticle.
  3. Daily: Atomic on damp, Chemical Addiction before heat.
Protective style

Braids, twists, locs, sew-ins

The system flexes for clients in long-term protective styles — scalp care, end care, takedown.

  1. Weekly: Pure Detox with a scalp brush — lifts buildup without disturbing the install.
  2. Daily: Renew on exposed ends. Atomic diluted in a spray bottle for natural hair where exposed.
  3. Takedown: Pure Detox + AquaLush 10 min + Atomic on damp + Renew on ends.
